Huge bass from Monitor Audio
There are few speaker companies that impress me with their subwoofer designs more than Monitor Audio. That's because the British hi-fi company packs a ton of high-tech features into relatively compact subs. The CW10 is a great example of this — it dishes out huge bass, but is still small enough to be inconspicuous in your room.
The CW10 uses dual 10" side-firing passive radiators to reinforce bass output.
A trio of woofers move some serious air.
So what makes the CW10 sound so good? Well for starters it sports three 10" cones that work in concert with each other. One is powered by a beefy 400-watt Class D amplifier. The other two are passive radiators that move in tandem with the powered driver.
Each cone is made from a lightweight, ceramic-coated aluminum/magnesium alloy originally developed by the aerospace industry for jet engine components. This ultra-rigid material resists the bending and twisting that causes distortion while allowing the use of thinner, lighter, more responsive materials.
The result is tight, fast, and tuneful bass with exceptionally high output levels.

Quick story: my living room has glass bookshelf and fireplace doors, along with tall windows that line three of its walls. All of these used to rattle like crazy when bass hit during movies. It drove me nuts!
